I went to Bumper Clinic in Durban this morning to get a price on the repair of my vehicle's rear bumper. After waiting for about 3 minutes for someone to help me (and after a technician had to call somebody in the back of the workshop about 5 times before this person responded) a guy walked up to me in over-alls and a beanie on his head. He took a look at my vehicles bumper and told me first it will cost me: "one point eight excluding VAT". Not knowing what he meant with one-point-eight I asked what the actual value is he is referring to. It came out to being R1800 excluding VAT. I then told the person that a new rear bumper from the vehicle supplier costs R834 excluding VAT, thus I can rather buy a new one then have them fix mine. The guy just turned around and walked off and I then got in my car and left. Unfortunately I did not catch his name and don't even think he is a manager there, but please do your homework before taking your vehicle to them, as it might cost you cheaper getting a new part than having it repaired.
