Liberty Promenade Shopping Centre

I was parked at Eastgate shopping mall side roof parking and my windscreen was damaged whilst parked. After reporting this to security, I followed the procedure to view the camera surveillance by opening a case at the police station, which I did 60/0/2013. Upon arrival with investigating officer, he was informed that I had parked in a blind spot so they could not see anything and that I had to sort out myself. Upon protesting with centre management (Phathu Mashamba) I was given a claim number PL/2013/0017 and referred to Sharmaine Ronne who told me that shopping malls get these type of claims all the time but were covered by disclaimers and there was nothing to be done. A written notification was to be sent to me- I'm still waiting.

What irritates me is that I'm aware of the disclaimers at shopping malls however I do weigh the risk and its based on the fact there are cameras and security personnel. If none of that was there, I would not park. I believe that Eastgate mall should tell its customers that their parking areas have blind spots as part of their disclaimers. Its silly that parking at a reputed mall is the same as parking on the streets of Hillbrow!!!
