BHP Billiton is one of the most recognised JSE listed companies that i have always admired and wanted to work for. Unfortunately my dream was shattered on 18 Sep 2013, when i received an sms inviting me for an interview. I was keen on the idea of driving from Jhb to Witbank for that interview and to relocate would have not been an issue. I had been invited for an admin position interview for 20 Sep 2013 at 09h30 and was asked to contact Mr Maile. I am not certain who and what he does, but i have been provided with his contact details, he confirmed that my interview had been indeed scheduled for me.
Just as i was about to hang up, he asked me to bring a fee of R1500 to secure that i would get the job regardless of how the interview went. He told me that their HR Team was corrupt and that if i did not have the money, i'd still get an interview but i definitely would not get a call back. He then informed that the HR Team already had their own people to give those jobs to who popped out money too except they would be "interviewed" and start on the Wed 25 Sep 2013. How does the recruitment process go for such a well established company? I am disappointed in the people they appoint.
