I am currently receiving the most terrible, rude unprofessional service from Midcity this after I changed my mind on a property that was on rental offer. I signed a contract with them on Friday 16/08/13 and then cancelled on Monday 19/08/13 after I had gotten background information about the property. This is less than 24 working hours after I had signed the contract. I helped get another tenant who applied for the property and was accepted it meaning the agency didn't suffer any loss of income. The house ACT of 1997 clearly stipulates that rental deposit should be paid back within 7days in the absence of damages and 14days if there are damages. I never entered the premise. It also says the lessor can only withhold deposit admin and Deposit fee if they suffer loss of income which clearly didn't happen as they are actually getting a duplicated admin fee within 48hours for the same property, adding to that they have made it difficult for me to getting my deposit back but requesting for things that are not part of the Housing Act not the Contract "Lease" that I signed. They have decided to now pay my deposit back via cheque just to be vindictive because I cancelled with them to delay
