Our two children, aged 4 and 3, attended the pre-school for a period of 5 weeks, however due to our dissatisfaction with the quality of education and care supplied, we decided to remove them from the school. The fees were exhorbitant (R2600 per month per child) and did not fit in with the way our children were being schooled. Our son would cry when being dropped off and our mildy autistic daughter was left to her own devises, coming home with sand-filled daipers almost daily. Our son had to be treated for ringworm due to playing in dirty sand. We also saw dangerous items like glass jars and sharp objects, within children's reach. We expected a high level of cleanliness and standard of education, as promised by the Montessori philosophy, however what we got was an unsafe, unfriendly environment where our children regressed over a short period. When we removed our children from the school, we requested a refund for the month (Feb. 2013) for the fees already paid of R5000, yet we were told that there was a 3 month paid notice period and that we would not receive a refund, even though they did not attend that month. We find this practive unfair and improper and we feel cheated.
