We have had a 2G data package at R149/m since July 2011 and have never gone over the allocated data until Dec 2012 when we received a huge shock when we were billed in excess of R900. On calling the call centre we were sent a breakdown of all websites visited but no data usage per site. In Jan we received another huge bill - now in excess of R1400. Called the call centre again & were given a reference no for the query and told that the accounts dept would contact us but 2 weeks later we had had no response. We called again only to be told that MTN did not call back regarding queries, it was up to the customer to call MTN to follow up, and that MTN had resolved the call - the billing was correct.
On 14 Jan called call centre again to follow-up and were told the bill was already over R400, we then removed the SIM card from the speed stick and have not used it since. Phoned the call centre again today as no-one had contacted us but once again we were told that the issue had been resolved and the billing was correct. Asked for the accounts dept where we then queried the amounts and asked again for a data usage breakdown and what current amount was - now over R800!!! How!!!
