I had a Talk 200s contract with Vodacom since they started back in the 1990s. I have been using a 500Mb data bundle for the last few years. In January out of the blue I got an SMS notifying me of excessive data usage in excess of R4200. I immediately phoned them up to say there is something wrong on the account and to immediately suspend the data service. I asked them to investigate what was being committed on my account. They came back a few days later with a stock standard response saying that the data usage is definitely linked to my phone and account and that I am liable for the usage. I explained to the "investigator" and numerous other extremely concerned and helpful (sarcasm!) customer "care" consultants and billing dept reps who send you from pillar to post. Not one of them was prepared to entertained the idea that I did not actually make use of this data and that there is a being committed and they need to do a proper investigation. I told them that they need to prove that I sued this data and demonstrate how they protect their customer from activity on their accounts. I am still waiting. I have cancelled my contract. They still sending me bills.
