Telkom takes bad service to new levels

I have been without ADSL for over a week and without a landline for two days. I reported the fault initially via sms. Later there were three occasions of holding on for half an hour each time and not getting through to the call centre. On the fourth try I got through after 20 minutes; I was told I should not expect service in less than 5 days due to their backlog. When technicians eventually appeared they said it was a set-up problem, "nothing wrong with the line." After they left the line stopped working altogether (I'd previously still been able to make calls). Reporting the fault again via Telkom's sms service merely triggers an automated reply: 'A fault has already been logged.' Enormously frustrating. How I wish Telkom had an effective competitor.
