Over-Billing with no explanation

I have an open MTN data bundle in which I receive 500mb per month. As I have an 8ta contract and they provide much better deals and customer services, I only in very rare cases plug in my MTN dongle and ONLY for browsing purposes. Last month I tried to access the internet and was unable to for hours, shortly thereafter I received a pop-up message saying that I had exceeded my R2800 data. I was absolutely horrified as there is no possible way that I could be charged this much for browsing!

I called MTN on 18 November to query this, only to find out that I would be receiving a bill of R5400 at the end of November. At this stage I am feeling sick as this is more than my rent. I must reiterate that this is just browsing. I logged on the same evening to see if I could pull any reports from the MTN software only to find that there is data usage reflecting for the whole of the previous week in which I am 100% certain I did not even plug in the dongle this month.

When I called to speak to the billing dept. today I was referred to the wrong place and then hung up on. There is obviously something very suspect happening behind the scenes.
