I have had an account with MTN for many years. I also had a data contract for 2GB per month. That particular contract had been running for the last 24 months. I didn't ever use the full amount. Suddenly in December I get a bill for an extra R700 for data that I used over the 2GB limit. As far as I knew once the data was finished the link wouldn't work unless I recharged with a top up. I enquired about this & was told they couldn't put a cap on it? My cellphone contract on the same account works that way and has to be recharged if the limit is reached. I objected to the additional charge & explained that I don't think I could have used extra data. After a month of calling & sending emails I was sent a report. All that can be established on this is that I used 5GB on 8th December. I queried again & was told the query was resolved. It wasn't so I asked them to reopen. I still need to understand how I could have used so much data on one day. If they look at my account they will surely see that there may have been an error with billing? Call centre staff are rude & abrupt. I WANT AN ANSWER.
