Over the last six days I have spent 102 minutes with 8 different operators at the MTN 808 number. I need to cancel my contract and immediately take out another contract, so I can keep my number (for professional reasons). Between the 8 operators 3 have indicated that I may do so, also the lady at the Summerstrand branch, Luzayne. However, after paying the fee on Monday stipulated by MTN, they told me on Wed I cannot do so and have to wait for 3 months on pay as you go before I can take out another contract. However, I can take out a contract with Vodacom immediately. I have not taken down all the names, reference numbers, etc of the operators, but I have the dates and times. Could they trace that to actually verify what I was promised? They promised to phone me within 24 hours on Wed; nothing happened. I phoned again late yesterday, they promised to have an answer by this morning. I feel totally helpless, frustrated and disappointed. I have been a loyal contract customer of MTN's for 16 years. Come on MTN, bad bad bad service: inform all of your employees of how things work as this is really not good for your image.
