In December my mom was due for a Cellphone upgrade on her top-up 400 contract. She went into the shop and asked for a smart phone, but one where she would still not pay more than R400 per month (as that is her budgetary limit). The salesman gave her a top-of-the-range smartphone but on a down-graded package (Smart Standard) without explaining that the new package would only give her 75min per month call-time. (On top up she had R400 worth of call-time.) We logged a cancellation request with Vodacom Cancellations within the allowed 14 days. They said they would come and collect the phone and this was confirmed during several follow-ups, but they never called or came. Upon another follow-up they said it needs to be returned to the store. When trying to return it to the store (Chatz Connect in Key West) the store would not take it as they are independent of Vodacom and don't take back phones. I called Vodacom again and they promised to take it up with the store as everything was done correctly from our side to ensure a cancellation and the store should indeed take the phone back to complete the cancellation. It has now been yet another week and no-one has still come back to us.
