Vodacom
Using old damage a excuse

Telecommunications

I took my Sony Xperia S in to Vodacom World on the 23rd of July 2013 after its screen just went dead, still usable, but no display.
The phone is on contract with Vodacom and just just a year old.
They told me it will be booked in with its warranty voided due to a scratch on the bottom left corner of the phone which i got almost the same day i got the phone almost a year back... how the can a scratch i got almost a year back now be the reason why the phone's display just went dead. They phoned me a day later telling me that the damage total is R2800 and that the warranty is no more. I rejected it and sent a mail to the manager, Mr Peter Manyaka. The part that has the scratch on is a puny piece of plastic! it will scratch! They had a senior Technician have a look at it, named Bhekinkosi Sibeko, he phoned me and told me that due to the scracth the warranty is voided, i explained to him that the phone was working 100%, never had any problems with it up to that day, but he stuck to his story. Now im paying for a phone Vodacom doesnt want to repair.

My thought is its easier for Vodacom to look for ANYTHING, no matter how irrelevant, just to make the customer pay and not help us!
