Mtn
R9000 for 89MB data roaming

Telecommunications

I have roamed several times on a Topup contract and never incurred any additional roaming charges as I am very carefull not to answer my phone while roaming and only answer important calls and sms'. I recently upgraded to an open contract and after 2 weeks abroad received the shock of my life that I was being willed R9000 for an apparent 89MB of data which I cannot understand as I was using my employer's Wifi network 24hrs a day. There are many inconsistencies in the bill. Sometimes charging R1000 for small amounts of data and other times R50 for larger amounts..?

MTN has informed me after 2months of no reply to my quiery that the charges of R9000 for 89mb data are legitimate charges. But HOW do you justify billing someone R9000 for 89mb of data?? I cannot even respond to the email as it's from a no reply address. Even making contact with someone from MTN is near impossible. Even at a branch they can't help you. They have to log an online quiery (that's if their system is not down). I waited 2months to get this unsatifactory response that I was told would take 5 to 10 business days. This is unacceptable service from MTN. I have been a loyal customer for many years
