Vodacom won’t repair phone under warranty

Telecommunications

I have been a Vodacom customer and have had a contract with them for many years now on the same number. I upgraded my contract via their call centre at the beginning of the year and the phone was delivered via courier.

The Vodacom invoice is dated 3 January 2013. The phone is now having issues and needs to be booked in for software upgrades. Upon visiting the service centre in Canal Walk I was told that any repairs etc will have to be paid for by myself. Vodacom claim the IMEI was NOT supplied by them and doesn't appear in the 2nd year Vodacom warranty database. The upgrade was done with them, they sent the phone, the IMEI number is on the Vodacom invoice, on the Vodacom sticker on the box with barcode and the phone - but they claim the IMEI was not supplied by them? The box also has the "2 year Vodacom warranty sticker" on it still.

So how is it possible that this phone is NOT a Vodacom phone and doesn't have a 2 year warranty?
This is completely unacceptable as this is a Vodacom contract and phone and I have the proof of this - if I am not assisted immediately I will take this further legally as this comes down to and breach of contract. Please contact me via e-mail.
