After receiving my May itemised bill, I noticed that it was unusually high. Upon investigation, I discovered that I'd been charged an additional "promo fee" (apparently this is now standard and will continue every month - this was never communicated to me either after repeated enquiries), and a large data charge, which made no sense because I was still well within my allocated monthly data bundle according to my bill. Since the end of May, I've been into my local MTN store twice, called 808 3 times, sent their billing department numerous e-mails, ALL of which have been met with either a "I don't know", or a "I've escalated your query and we will call you back within 15 working days". No one has called me back in the last 8 weeks. I am truly shocked and appalled, and now I'm tied into a 2 year contract with a company that doesn't care to validate anything after they've got your signature. All I wanted was a justification and I wouldn't have minded paying my bill. All I got was ignorance, completely unhelpful accounts staff and absolutely no follow-through. I would strongly advise against considering MTN as a service provider if you consider any kind of client service essential.
