Customer Rip Off?

After 8-10yrs as a customer, I have cancelled my ADT contract due to bad service. There isn't enough space to list all the incidents which let to me cancelling. I was originally told that the alarm system would be my property after the first 3 yrs of my contract. After more than 8 years I am now told that it's a rental system & I must pay for it or have the system removed. No-one from ADT has ever checked, serviced or maintained the alarm system. Considering we were overcharged on our monitoring fee for months prior to my negotiating reduction in 2011, and that the original system would be 8yrs old, we regard this as a total rip off. I am now being charged the original price of R1499. I have repeatedly raised my objection each time I was phoned about this. My complaint was not escalated, or discussed further to come to an agreement. Not to mention the extremely bad armed response times (30 min), bad service from the technical department, call centre issues. I am listing this complaint here to highlight, I am paying the R1499 today ONLY because a lawyer would cost a lot more, and I don't want to be blacklisted even though i regard this situation as totally unacceptable
