Locked into a contract I didnt sign!

When I moved into my property 3 years ago there was already a system in place in my new house. Therefore I requested month by month monitoring with Adt. 3 years down the line now that I would like to instal a rented system through Adt as my current system is beyond repair I am told I am locked into a contract with a rented system and this contract began in June 2012! How can it be a rented system when it was there when I moved in!!! Why am I locked into another persons rented contract? Furthermore I have a strong suspicion that my original contract was automatically renewed without my knowledge! Nevermind the fact that the technical department seem incapable of fixed the alarm at my business premises. I was willing to sign up with Adt for 3 more years but I am definately going to be moving my home and business premises over to Blue unless this is sorted out immediately. Very unhappy customer.
