REFUND OF DEPOSIT

The above establishment used to be a Bed and Breakfast, then a Self Catering and now Full Board and Lodging. I applied for accommodation and was informed by the Landlady that renovations to the room allocated to me would commence upon receipt of my confirmation of occupation. I paid R4, 500.00 as deposit and was then informed by this same lady that the builder wanted R7, 000.00 to do the renovations and because she didn't have the money, she would have it done at a later stage. I then signed a lease and requested the Landlady not to enter an occupation date on the lease because I couldn't give my current Landlady notice as she was in hospital. She however went ahead and entered the 1st July 2013 as date of occupation. I only envisaged moving in on 1st August 2013.I received a SMS message from her stating that the builder wanted to start on 22 July 2013 and it would cost her R10, 000.00.When I told her that I wouldn't be moving in on 1st of July 2013, she almost exploded. It seems to me that everytime there is a need for cash, the builder comes up. I requested her to refund my deposit by 12 July 2013 but she just ignored my request, .
