Loan Settlement fiasco!!

So I requested a settlement letter on the 23rd of December which I received and was told it's only valid for 7 days and so I settled the loan on the 27th of December, which was over 25K. Today I call to make sure that all is ok, and I get told that the account has a balance of R400!!! When I inquire why I'm told I didn't ask for the account to be closed!! Helloooo, who settles a loan and then sits back and let interest accumulate again and on top of that why wasn't I told this when I called your call centre 3 times (feel free to check your records) before today, and by the way how does interest accumulate on a balance of 0??? No really how does interest accumulate on a balance of 0? You guys better reverse those charges as you must think I'm a fool!!! I don't owe you anything.
