I logged a claim in June after a power surge and waited for 5 weeks for the TV to be collected and sent to the service provider to assessment. On 1 Aug, I received a letter stating that my claim was repudiated as power surges are not covered by the insurance. After almost two months, I contacted the insurance to enquire as to when the TV will be returned because it's still my property considering the claim was repudiated. I have now had confirmation that the TV has been salvaged and they are willing to pay me R500 compensation. I paid over R13000.00 for the TV and that's what Standard bank Insurance wants to pay me?? You should have honoured the claim in the first place, because I can't find anywhere in the policy documents that states that power surges are not covered. I want my TV replaced you useless people!! your service was shocking and I can't believe that customers are treated so badly by your Company. I am definitely contacting the Ombudsman if this issue is not resolved to my satisfaction.
