Standard Bank Home Insurance - Do not Touch!

First Claim: Damage to a retainer wall due to heavy rains. Standard Bank Home Insurance rejected the claim because the retainer wall was apparently badly built/constructed. However when they assessed the property for purposes of insurance, nothing was ever mentioned about this fact, the retainer wall was not excluded from insurance and they were quite happy to take our money.

Claim: Damage to a washing table due to burst geyser. This is some two years ago and we are still waiting for the replacement.

Further Claim: Burst Geyser. This claim was made over two weeks ago and we are still awaiting a new geyser. Also, we have not received any quotes for new geyser casings and to make matters worse, they actually called us wanting to refit the damaged casing! When we called yesterday they sent an electrician at 19h00 in the evening to attend to a Power Failure!

Whatever you do, do not insure through Standard Bank.
