SAA
Booking Mistake

Traveling & Tourism

I made a booking on SAA Voyager on the 17th of Dec. 2012 for a flight from Perth to JHB on the 1st of April 2013. The booking was fully paid for with Voyager miles and a credit card, and my ticket was issued. When getting my documentation ready for the vacation on the 2nd of March 2013- I noticed that my surname was spelled wrong. I consequently phoned the Voyager call centre informing them of the mistake and asked if this would be a problem, and if they could correct it. I was informed that they would have to cancel the previous booking and make a new booking and re-issue a ticket. We have made several phone calls to the call centre, and have made numerous attempts to speak to a manager/supervisor with no luck. As a result of this spelling mistake, and the fact they they claim that the only way to fix it would be to make a new booking - they have now informed us that we would have to pay the taxes of the new booking of R 2, 120.00, as well as purchase an additional 45 000 miles for approximately
R 10, 000.00 in order for the new booking to be confirmed. We find this completely unreasonable. We need this matter resolved urgently as we are leaving for Australia on the 16th March.
