Voyager miles are a waste of time

I recently converted some of my Discovery miles to Voyager Miles as I wanted to use them towards an air ticket on SAA. Only after the conversion was done did I go onto the SAA website to make my booking and was surprised to see that all the cheaper options appear to be fully booked on all flights indefinitely. I even tried looking for flights next year and the same message come up stating that there are none available.
It is obvious the whole Voyager scheme has become a as one is forced to purchase the most expensive options if you want o stand any chance of redeeming miles.
