No award but miles deducted

I requested a Voyager award to buy tickets. I received a SMS saying that an award has been made but never received an e-mail as per web site. I couldnt wait longer for the e-mail with reference so I booked my ticket on another airline. But I then see that miles have been deducted and I request that the award be reversed as I have not used it as I never received it.
SAA: Kindly be advised that the awards are reversible at a cost of R370.
Me: How could I reverse the awards if I never received them? It says on the web site that the awards will be e-mailed.
SAA: Kindly be advised that two sms's were sent out confirming withdrawal of awards.
Me: The web site: "you will be sent an e-mail confirmation"
I received the sms's, but I never received the e-mail with the award reference so how could I make book?
SAA: Kindly be advised that Management and declined your request.
Me: Had enough, I req'd the dtls of how to pay the "charge" to reverse miles.
SAA: Kindly be advised that the awards are now outside of the one month reversal period and is now non reversible.
Me: It took a long time (3 mnths) for SAA to consider my query. Now they stated that I cannot reverse the award as 6 mnths has exp
