SAA
AWARDS EXPIRY DATE

Traveling & Tourism

On the 30 March 2013 i authorised 2 Voyager awards to be issued prior to expiry of awards at the end of March. I received 2 emails confirming the withdrawal of these 2 awards. Very basic emails that read as follows: "An award has been withdrawn from Voyager acc. xxx. If you did not authorise this request, please contact us urgently ..." there are no terms and conditions and not other details saying when the expiry is of the award certificate. Today i wished to book a trip to the USA in January and wanted to utilise my awards accordingly. Only to be informed that they expired on 30 September and even though there has been no reminder, no automated follow up, etc that these awards were not valid any longer and there is nothing i can do. Surely this is a. Surely there is a responsibility on SAA Voyager to it loyal clients. The fact that i have missed the deadline by 7 days (not months) doesnt seem to come into any form of discussion. I think that this is highly unacceptable and would like to know if there is anything legally that can be done, or in terms of the consumer protection act? I dont feel like i am being treated fairly considering the circumstances.
