On my package I set a call limit (at R50.)Along with this service -they sms you when you reach 50%, 70%, 90% &softblocked.
On 14 Jan14, my power was out &I needed to work, so I used my cellphone as a hotspot at a Wimpy; I arrived at 11.05am. At 13.15pm I got my 1st sms saying I'd reached 50% of my voluntary call limit, a few mins later a 2nd sms - 90%.I packed up, went to the loo&went to pay. At this time i got a 3rd sms stating 70%(in that order). I called Vodacom at 13.22pm! The guy told me it was R350 which I then paid&he said it would not be soft blocked. 45mins after the call I received a final sms=limit reach &now soft-blocked.
2days later; still softblocked. I called again&was informed my bill now R750.00 (above contract amount). Trying to inquire about this; she told me I had reach 50%of the limit on the 10th! 4days prior to sms! I require a limit on my phone due to budgeting. It should cut me at R50usage, not R750.
After trying to deal this stroppy girl;I requested a supervisor. Said someone will call me10mins, its been 9days&waiting!
I dnt feel I should pay this. I set a limit & this is unjust & is in contravention of the Consumer protection act &/ National Credit act.
