Contract package downgrade not effected

I called the Vodacom call centre in the middle of November to downgrade my contract package and jumped through all the necessary hoops to ensure that on 01/01/2014 I was downgraded to Smart M from XL. Call centre agent confirmed the downgrade would happen but when I checked on 02/01/2014 the change hasn't been effected. The call centre agent I spoke to on that day said she was escalating the matter and I should receive a follow up call within 24hrs. It has been 72 hours without any feedback and no requested downgrade either.

I am exasperated with Vodacom's very poor level of service and will most likely be moving my account when this contract expires in June.
