MTN keeps quiet about account that ends

Yesterday i went to MTN Westgate and asked when my MTN contract ends! I was then told on the 18th this month and they said i need to let them know at least 30 days to cancel my contract before it go's automatically on (LOL)! i then immediately contacted 808 as the mtn man said and my call was dropped twice without even speaking to customer care, how doe's that work?

2. Did you know that suppliers have to send you notification 40 to 80 business days before the expiry date of your contract? They cannot renew the contract without your permission.

I NEVER GOT A SMS THAT STATES WHEN MY CONTRACT FINISHES!!!

I WAS GOING TO UPGRADE TO THE IPHONE 5 BUT I WANT TO GO BACK TO PAY AS YOU GO!
