Autopage - won't cancel my contract on expiry date

I called Autopage now 1 month before expiry to cancel my contract which ends on the 17th September 2013, they told me they can only cancel my contract on the 14 October as the MTN system only allows to cancel on the 14th of the month!!! that is a whole month extra I will have to pay after my contract expires!!! Does not make sense, I refuse to accept this...
