MTN - unfair charges

Telecommunications

I had a 24 month contract with MTN on a 2Gb Top-up for the amount of R149 per month. I received an invoice from MTN on the 13th of September 2013 showing an amount of R389.00. After enquiring the invoice, the MTN consultant informed me that my 24 month contract expired hence the increased amount. I was never informed of the monthly price increase prior to the expiry date of the contract. Should MTN not notify a person 80 to 40 days prior?
Now I must give MTN 20 business days' notice to cancel a non-existing contract. I was also informed that if I cancel now, it will be too late to stop the payment for next month. I feel that MTN will then have swindled me out of R489.00 (Legally)
They deliberately refuse to notify customers of contract expiry because it adds millions of rands to their pockets each month. Cell phone providers should be forced to include the contract expiry date on the invoices sent to the customer each month. I might be able to make peace with the once-off overcharging by MTN, but the fact that I must now wait in silence for the next slap in the face is unacceptable. I will definitely not renew my contract and will cancel my other contracts as well in time
