Over Billed Data and incorrect change to package

I received a bill for R1200 when I have a My Gig 1 package and have loaded a block to the account when it reaches R100 over the 1Gig. On querying the account I was advised that I should rather change it to a TopUp package so that it stops when 1G is used. So I agreed to change the package to a TopUp thinking that since I was on a 1Gig, it would be changed to a 1Gig TopUp. But no Vodacom unilaterally changed it to a 3Gig TopUp. I have been trying for 3 days for them to reduce it to a 1Gig TopUp and I get told today that their computer system has been offline all day. How can a huge Telecom corporate like Vodacom have technical issues for the entire day?!?
