TopUP Contract Pricing Change/Increase

Telecommunications

We have previously upgraded our kids contracts and have chosen a "good" deal and if it was an Anytime contract have changed it to a TopUp contract. We do this so that the kids do not use more than the allowed amount, as there are lots of out there which could end up using endless amounts of data or airtime.

But to our surprise, and not advertised or stated anywhere... it now costs you about R30/month to "downgrade" (sic) it to a TopUp contract. We have looked at the Contract Price Plans page, on the MTN web site, and does not seem to be mentioned on there.

TopUp is described as follows:
Enjoy the best of both worlds: the convenience of contract and the control of PayAsYouGo. MTN TopUp is available on all MTN AnyTime and MTN Off Peak contract packages and is ideal for those who need more control over their monthly cellphone spending. MTN TopUp ensures that you do not go over your monthly budget with your cellphone bill. Once you've reached your free airtime and free SMSs have been used up, you can then load PayAsYouGo airtime, giving you full control of your spending.

So why do we now have to pay the extra, and when did it change???
