Vodacom Data Softlock does not work in any way

I recently phoned Vodacom to have a soft lock of 100 rand put on my Data account. I was informed that the soft lock is not 100% guaranteed. Which after discussion I was led to believe it meant that it may go a little over before it registers and kick in. That night while I slept my data was acive under the assumption that when it reached this limit it would be locked.

The following morning I woke to find 3 SMS warning me that I was nearing my threshold 50% 90% etc.

i then logged onto my account to see how far I had gone over (expecting an amount of perhaps a few 100 rand) To my shock I found that I had gone almost 5000 rand over. This to me is unacceptable as it looks like the Soft Lock does not work at all. Surely if it was reminding me I was nearing my limit it should know when to cut off.

Vodacoms suggestion when I queried this was to change to a top-up contract because then it will cut off when you reach 0. My complaint is that this does not solve the problem but only helps me avoid it again and that the charges only ended because I turned my data off.

This product does not work in any way and Vodacom have been unwilling to come to a comprimise.
