Huge data bill despite 'soft lock' on account

In attempt to control data usage, I applied a R10 'soft lock' on my MTN-Wifi account with Nashua Mobile.
2G in-bundle data was used up by 19/9/2013. Between 20/9/2013-23/913 the account remained active despite going over the R10 'soft lock' limit. On Enquiry the Nashua Mobile Call centre informed me that R184 was deducted on 21/9/13 for 1.4GB and R844 for 2GB data on 23/9/2013. After numerous phone calls client Services claimed that it is clearly stated that the soft lock cannot be guaranteed and that they are unable to prevent this from happening as stipulated in the small print (terms and conditions).
As a consumer trying to control data usage, I was ensured that my account will not run past the R10 'soft lock' when I had it loaded in store, by a client consultant. Now I am left with a large account and no guarantee that it won't happen again.
