Careless upgrade

On Friday evening a small team at Mweb decided to upgrade its version of PHP. They have some arguable reasons for the upgrade but nothing explains their lack of regard for the impact this would have on us. I cannot understand how your "UNIX guys" can have a meeting at the end of the day and agree to do such a huge upgrade and implement it without notifying clients.
There is a need for some soul searching in Mweb. We now have an all night job of making sure we move a site to a borrowed domain when they could have simply notified us of the impending upgrade- 3 days at most.
I really am not interested in the reasons or the justifications for the "urgent upgrade"... your processes shows that there is very little oversight over a bunch of UNIX geeks who think that they can bulldoze "dumb" customers to upgrading their applications to the latest PHP version... its not so simple... security goes beyond the language or version used to build an application. The architecture of each application is of greater importance. Any self respecting webserver admin would not give the lame solution you have implemented so brazenly... you can tell a lot about a company by its attitude to its clients
