Incorrect info / unacceptable charges

On 28 May my contract with Cell C was upgraded to a new one.
Up until the renewal I had a contract with an additional 300MB data bundle loaded.

As the new contract came with 1GB included, I was advised by the store that the new contract & bundle would kick in immediately and that the 300MB bundle was no longer necessary, the bundle was therefore removed.

Imagine my surprise when at the end of last week I got an SMS from Cell C warning me of high data use charges.
On inquiry with the call centre I was told that not only did the new contract not kick in immediately (why???), but that as the 300MB bundle had been removed I was being charged exorbitant out-of-bundle rates for every single MB used this month.

First, if I had been advised correctly by the store I would not have agreed to remove the 300MB bundle, and secondly I would not have proceeded to use data as if I had 1GB available.

This unacceptable situation is clearly the result of false information being given to me by Cell C staff.
