Switched account holders during contract upgrade

When I upgraded my contract in Oct 2012 Vodacom wrongfullyy registered my contract on another companies name, which I did not realize until 10 Jun 2013 when the number was suspended. The support personnel told me that it is not my contract and that they can not give me any detail on this contract, I insisted that they refer this for further investigation which they did but I did not get any feedback. My wife uses this phone and this has been her number for the past 13 years and now she has to get a new phone number. I did not realise that Vodacom stopped the debit order, so somebody else has been paying this account, but apparently Vodacom is not interested in resolving the issue for me or the other party. How is it possible that when Vodacom makes a blatant mistake by switching account holder details during upgrade that Vodacom is not prepared to resolve the issue, and that they cannot advice me on any way to progress the issue because I am not on their system anymore?
