Handset Return policy?

I bought the new Samsung S4 yesterday from the Middelburg mall shop only to realise that the there's a cracking noise when phoning. I returned it today and the helpful lady (Thea) told me that the handset need to be returned to Samsung for them to say if it's faulty. I've been using cellphones for the last 15 years and would think that I would know if I'm not happy with the phone. I don't want to wait a month for my new phone and I've upgraded to the highest package. I've always had my cellphone account with Vodacom and have been paying on average more than R2000 per month. I think it is a shame that a company would treat a loyal customer like myself in this manner and so much for the Consumer Protection Act. Hopefully Vodacom will rise to the occasion and treat me like a valued customer that I am.
