Poor Service

Whenever I need assistance whether it is for an item of clothing or for a pair of shoes it is very difficult to find an assistant, when I ask someone from the store they just say they are somewhere on the floor, today while waiting in the small queue which usually takes forever another customer who asked the teller if there is someone to assist her... was simply told No, sorry.
I have often resorted to asking the security guard to help me look for someone.
Once when I eventually got help regarding a blouse that was too high for me too reach I was told that if I cant find my size on the bottom rack it is unlikely that it will be on the higher rack. Am I supposed to know this?
