WHAT RIP OFFS!!!

Our alarm battery no longer had power. We contacted Chubb to have a technician replace the dead battery. Very bad decision. Received the invoice today from our tenant with a new battery charge of R273.35 (incl Vat) - Security shops sell the same type battery for between R 131 to R 170 (incl Vat). Chubb is probably making over 200% profit on the battery as they probably get these batteries for next to nothing because they purchase in bulk. Then they have a cheek to charge a call out fee of R 508-00. According to the repair call centre, this is their hourly rate they charge. This too is excessive for probably 15-20 minutes work. I would have replaced the battery myself but unfortunately with me living in JHB and this property being in Cape Town, I had to rely on the service provider.
We currently use Chubb's services for our home in JHB as well. I think it is time I approach other service providers who are not just interested in ripping off their clients.
