Over charged and to, all in one transaction!

A friend needed help with a flat battery. We tried jumper cables but the battery was too flat. I suggested taking the battery to one of two battery retailers for help with testing the battery and possible replacemant. The choice was Battery Centre Wilgeheuwel, cnr Nic Diederichs and Florin Rd, and Batteries SA, Valley SCntr, Fredenharry Dve, Strubens Valley, Roodepoort, 011 6794229. I advised that although Battery Centre would supply a quality product, it would probably be at a premium. He agreed to go to Batteries SA. On arrival the battery, a 668, was load tested and said to be faulty. I mentioned the reason we had come there rather than Battery Centre was to get a product of equal quality at a reduced price, I was assured that this indeed would be the case. We were quoted just over R1600, 00 incl Vat with scrap return. We gasped! The shop assistant said he would call Battery Centre and get a price on the equivalent. He did and quoted their price at just over R1900, 00 incl Vat and a scrap return. Today the same Battery Centre quoted me R1407, 00 incl Vat and scrap. Calling Batteries SA, they gave no apology but plenty of attitude "don't tell me what prices to charge in my shop! "
