Fake test to show that your battery is faulty

After returning from vacation, the car battery was flat, so took it in to Battery Centre Randburg for a check up. They hooked it up to a machine and 10 to 15 minutes later said that the test showed the battery needed replacing - it could not be fixed. Luckily they did not have a replacement in stock so I went to Battery Centre Florida. Here the manager mentioned that you can not test a flat battery - you have to at least try to charge it and then test it. After a 24 hour charge, he then tested the battery and found no fault with it.
The staff at Battery Centre Randburg were clearly trying to "rip me off". Surely they should know to first charge the battery before testing it.
Hopefully this report will help others who are in a similar situation. PS: I highly recommend Battery Centre Florida for their honesty. Also the replacement battery would have cost me R300 less at this branch. Fascinating since it is located just 10-15km from the other branch!
