Cannot get contract / exhorbitant cancellation fee

I have come to the conclusion that having ADT security is a total waste of money as they simply pop a note into my postbox after an alarm activation mentioning that they cannot get into my property since I have palisade fencing. However, they *do* have the code for the gate!

So it got me thinking: "how on earth are these people going to help me in an emergency? "

I called to cancel and the first thing they mention is that I have a 2 year contract with 18 months left. So I mention the CPA. Now I have to pay 20% of the remaining period's cost. This does not seem reasonable.

I have walls adjoining my house so it is difficult getting to the back. The side gate cannot be unlocked from outside. ADT came to my house and mentioned that I need to cut a hole in my side gate and get an ADT lock. Now, there was no initial inspection when I signed the contract and none of this was explained.

I also requested a copy of my contract and received something illegible. I contacted then again for a legible copy and I am *still* waiting for a response.

I regard this as breach of contract since they are not delivering a service that I am paying for.
