8yr old claim - Now blacklisted!!??

For some reason, Discovery decided to reverse a claim made in 2005.
I only heard of this when I left my company and left Discovery in 2013. They gave me three different excuses as to why they didn't let me know, or why they didn't claim the money back then.
I had the opportunity to claim from gap cover in 2005. But nobody will even look at a claim 8 years old!
Now I've been blacklisted and handed over to debt collectors - for an 8 year old stuff-up on their side.
They were unwilling to even hear my side of the story. I asked them for more details about the claim, but they don't even know who the provider was, or have any details about it - still I must pay for their 8 year old mistake!?
