Imbo split peas not cooked soft

I bought bales of split peas for many years from the same store Mikeva Hyper in Mosselbay. I made soup twice and the peas don't cook soft. The first 2 packets we cooked in a pot on the gas stove and today we cooked 2 packets in a slow cooker for hours but still it don't cook soft. The PD date is 26.09.2024 and BB date is 26.09.2025.
