Dvd player doesn't play as said in manual

I received a Sony dvd player, in the manual it says that it can play avi, mp4 and so on, but It doesn't play this, only plays 100% Xvid formats. When I contacted Sony about this, they had the arrogance and ignorance to tell me that the DVP-SR320 doesn't play divx or avi. I must look on the website for the specs and what it plays. The website doesn't show my at all what the formats it is capable to play. They even emailed me the specs. The third time I contact them, a lady called me, still with the arrogance, she at least understand what my problem was and said she will take it up with her seniors in changing the wording in the manuals. That is the only help I got. What the manual of the model says, what the dvd player model and what the website says is totally 2 different stories. I expected more from Sony. I will never buy a sony dvd player ever!! I'll buy one from their competitors who really does do better support for these formats. What is the point in customer care department if they can't or don't want to assist or really understand your problem?!?
