Faulty Products! Clients must wait for replacement

I visited Sony centre Gateway in April and purchase a docking station of sorts that encompassed a CD Player and a radio too. A few months later we decide to try out the CD Player after never using it and after the second or third use the product stopped reading our original
Discs. As the product was hardly used, I placed it in it's original packaging with all accesories, and returned to Sony Centre Gateway. I was told on arrival that although they tested the product whilst I was there, and confirmed it was faultly (and they had replacement items in stock) that even though it was within 6 months of my purchase (consumer protection act) that I would have to WAIT at least a week for the item to be sent to Rectron for "approval" of replacement. This is total and not in line with how I understand the consumer act. It's been more than a week already and I still do not have the replacement. Staff contact me via SMS without always indentifying themselves which I find most unprofessional and have even gone so far as to request the box and accessories... which I had already given!! I AM MOST DISSAPOINTED AND WON'T BE PURCHASING FROM SONY CENTRE OR HIRSCH AGAIN!!
