Musica refuses refund after one day

Good day
I am a pensioner and need dire assistance.
On the 18 July 2013 I purchases a Sony dvd player at the above store. the model on display had a sign that advertised wifi. Directly under it in a smaller font it stated wifi ready. I wear glasses but did not have them with me as they were in the car. I tried to connect to the internet to no avail.
I paid R999.00 for the dvd player.
I contacted the manager of Musica and asked for a refund. He stopped short of telling me to go to as Musica would not refund me..
when contacting Sony they referred me to a supplier who sells the needed part to attach to the dvd player. The supplier notified me that the part needed to fit costs R1400.00.
The company advised me to dump the dvd player and accept the loss as it was not worth the purchase.
Please I am a pensioner and do not have the funds to take such a loss.
