I am at a point of desperation. I have spent an hour at Clearwater branch and R200 in airtime.
I have spoken to
oJohann Visagie- branch manager at Clearwater
oGavin Pillay- Sales manager at Clearwater
oLebo in your call centre- to close the account
oJabulani in your department (who cannot speak English, I don't know how ABSA recruit staff, but English fluency should be a prerequisite)
I went into Absa clearwater branch 25 February 2013, in order to close my credit card account. The teller couldnt close it and we were patched through to a call centre. The operative assured me she would close it but was, TOO BUSY! to issue a reference number. I thought this was irregular and had the bank manager issue me a letter of closure. A week later I recieved a sms at 2am, stating that a transaction was taking place on the card. is obviously occuring amoungst Absa staff! I stopped the card and after floating between call centre depatments the next day, I was assured by LEBO the account was closed. I am still recieving account statements indicating the account is open two months later. Do you require smoke signals Absa? Is legal recourse the only method to close an account?
